Unity
Colossians 1:27b Christ in you, the hope of glory
A profound revelation to pounder! Christ in us and among us is the Hope of Glory. The thought that we carry the presence of Jesus manifesting as the Hope of Glory!
Mark 3:24-25 Jesus said,” And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Psalms 133: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! 2It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing—Life forevermore
The Dew of Hermon, loftiest peak northern Israel, when the surrounding country was parched and dry the refreshing dew would descend from the mountain.
Dew speaks of resurrection, Isaiah 26:19 but your dead will live, Lord; their bodies will rise let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy! Your dew is like the dew of the morning the earth will give birth to her dead.
The Mana that fed the children of Israel in the wilderness came with the dew. Numbers 11:9
Hebrews 1:3 The Son, Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful Word. After He provided for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Radiance Greek word “Apaugasma” (A pal gas ma) Light or splendor, light taken to the extreme.
John 8:12 The Jesus spoke to them again, saying ‘I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life”.
1John 1:5-7 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Walking in the light is walking in unity and if we remain in the light, we have fellowship with one another! And the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from sin. The cleansing is in addition to forgiveness. Not just forgiveness but that the residue of sin is removed.
If your version of Christianity separates you from the rest of the body, I question the soundness of such doctrine as it is contrary to what scripture teaches us about unity and walking in the light. If it’s not light and unity that you’re walking in, then what is it?
Now let’s take this a step further.
Matthew 5:14-16 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
So, according to Jesus, we are the light of the world a light that cannot be hidden! the darkness of the world cannot overcome the light of God. Our walking in the light creates in us “the light of life” we are carriers of the light and meant to give light to All who are in the house. If we isolate ourselves from the rest of the body, becoming an island unto ourselves how can we bring glory to our heavenly Father? How would we then be cleansed from sins residue?
Ephesians 2:19-22 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Closing thoughts:
As we walk together in unity, the light we each carry as we come together, we create together a greater glory, a greater measure of radiance the radiance, Gods glory! edifying, encouraging and comforting one another. Fitted together each has a piece and a place in the body. Together we grow into a holy temple a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
